As I was a mom with one child at my side and other children with me in the cradle would work 12 hour shifts cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! We were getting close to completing, however we were a long way off. For furnishing the space it would be a huge effort both in time and money. It was also going to be a challenge go to my favorite stores. In order to stay within my budget, I began going to estate sales along with my three sons to find diamonds in the rough. Each week we would spend Thursday to Saturday at estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new furniture. Then I stenciled and polished the driveway during the workweek. My first impression was similar to... this is when my desire to repair furniture started. I continued to work on furniture, even after having completed the renovation of our home. There was a place on the market in town in which I sold my items. Then, my collection got enough that the area I had was not enough. Then I began hosting open houses at my house where over 1 000 people could visit in a single weekend and could buy anything they saw on the first floor. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. The business wasn't just flourishing, but I was also growing my sweet family too. I was balancing the demands between what it took starting a business as well as a mother too. Growing Days seemed like the best fit. Nora, my 4th kid was born in 2013. The direction my company was heading was fantastic, but I had to rest for a while. I opted to take a little breaks from my old furniture and be at home with my kids. It was time. However after a few months after that, the phone began to call. People were calling me and needing help with the interior decoration and remodeling. These were mostly customers who visited my house for furniture. While I was working, I added clients one by one. However, it didn't take that long before I was managing several clients, and had an extremely successful business of home renovation. I'm sure you would have amused me if you told me this would become the basis of an DIY Network tv series. It's fun to reflect to the idea.
