Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but vulnerable characters, is one of the most well-known American actors of today. Linney was born to a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nurse. Linney became interested with theatre in time spent in the summer with her famous father. She studied acting in Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. In just two short years following graduation the actress began her Broadway career. The following year she made her first appearance in TV and film. Since then she has been appearing in a variety of films, TV shows and stage performances. In her long career, she's won numerous awards. These includes the two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. In spite of her many nominations, she has a passion for acting and has performed on both screen and stage.
